What Is A QR (Quick Response) Code?
How To Create And Use A QR Code For Your, Small, Business Website
If you are wondering what a QR Code is you might actually know the answer already with realising it! It is the new type of Bar Code (Scan Image) being put onto
business leaflets, websites and so on these days purely because of the fantastic technology behind them.
Just like a Bar Code is scanned on a food item in a supermarket whereby the computerised till recognises the bar code lines and then translates them into a product
name and price, for example, the same applies to a QR Code. The difference being that you, the general public, can scan a qr code (scan image) with your mobile phone
(or similar device) in order to retrieve the information associated with that qr code. You may need to download a QR Code Reader app beforehand though.
With a QR Code Reader compatible device, such as a mobile phone, all your customer needs to do is take a photo of your qr code with their device's built-in camera.
Their QR Code Reader app will then interpret the coded information associated with your, photographed, qr code and either send them to your website or give them
details about your website and its special offers for example.
In other words, a qr code is just a modern day version of the old bar code system which is now being used/adapted for business and general public needs. Saying this,
a qr code is normally created by a small business owner whereby they want their potential customers to see their business text, special offers and website link for
example when their qr code has been photographed. They don't need to make a wordy leaflet anymore because they can just print their unique qr code on their
business cards instead.
How To Create Your Own QR Code
To create your own unique qr code you will need to download and install a QR Code Reader app onto your mobile phone or similar device. A popular andriod app is this one - The QR Driod.

If that app will work on your, mobile phone, device (check the website for more information) simply download it to your computer's DOWNLOAD folder, upload it to
your device via bluetooth or cable for example and then follow your device's app installation instructions. Once it has been installed you will then have a QR Code
Reader app on your device, ready for photographing a qr code. if that app is not compatible with your device, for whatever reason(s), you may have a frustrating
internet search!
Regardless of whether or not you have a QR Code Reader app or not, that does not stop you from creating a unique qr code for your small business. In other words,
you can create one even without a qr code compatible device and even if you don't fully understand qr code technology. To create a unique qr code begin by visiting
a QR Code Generator website.
Fig 1.1 Create a unique QR Code for your small business website
A website like QR Driod (above) allows you to generate (create) a unique qr code with ease. With the above as the example, I have just filled in the URL tabbed window (mini window) with the URL set to http://www.websitecreationhelp.com/. I have left the SIZE and COLOR settings alone in order to create a standard qr code image (bar code). All that remains is to click on the GENERATE button (above). Doing so then generates the HTML Code needed to insert into a web page.
Fig 1.2 SELECT ALL of this HTML Code and then COPY & PASTE it into one or more web pages
With the HTML Code in front of you, SELECT ALL (highlight all) of it and then COPY & PASTE it into your web page(s) as need be. You could then take a snapshot of it and have it printed onto your business cards for example.
Fig 1.3 This is what the QR Code image looks like when it's HTML Code has been inserted into a web page
With your unique qr code image created, its html code pasted into one or more of your web pages and/or its image printed onto your business cards; all you do now
is wait for someone to photograph it and hopefully become a potential customer!
As mentioned above; You could create different qr codes via the different tabbed windows (Fig 1.1 above). In this case you could create a qr code that contains only
your Contact Details or your Calendar Events for example. It depends on what information you are wanting to create of course.
